Fresh Air Supplied Soft Hood (no seal required to the face)
Fresh Air Compressor will feed clean regulated breathing
air through a hose that connects to a face mask or hood.
Air Purifying Respirators come in two forms
1. Negative Flow The worker uses his/her
lungs to draw air through the filter. Sometimes breathing can become
labored when using this type of respirator. When long term use is
needed, a positive flow filter respirator can be used.
2. Positive Flow This respirator is almost the
same as a negative flow with the added feature of a small fan
that will drive the surrounding air through the filters and up
to the respirator mask. This is a more complex system but is much
more comfortable for long term use.
Fresh
Air Supplied Respirator: If the environment is immediately poisonous or lethal then
breathing the existing air is out of the question. For this situation
the worker must be completely isolated from the environment. To
do this a Fresh Air Compressor will feed clean regulated breathing
air through a hose that connects to a face mask or hood. This equipment
is costly and sometimes complicated but this is the only way to
safely allow a worker to work in a tank or container. Soft hoods
are available for painting along with face pieces and eye lenses.
For Sandblasting, a fresh air supplied hood is needed. This hood
provides hard hat features, impact resistance, replaceable eye lenses,
and a supply connection for clean compressed air.
